After our zoological adventure on Tuesday, we opted for a less physically stressful day trip yesterday and headed down to the Wheeling Island Casino and Racetrack. Located in a mostly residential area in downtown Wheeling, there was plenty of parking. Alas, we did not make our fortune at the slots, but we had a few fun hours.
Today, we needed to find a post office, so we headed northeast on US 250. We found it, but it didn’t open until noon, so we decided to aim our car down the road further, see what we found. What was found was Tappan Lake, part of the Muskingum watershed. It has 2,350 acres of water with 14 different species of fish for fishing. There are 2 different marinas around the water and a dam. We stopped to take pictures, but they opted not to come out.
After a quick stop at the post office on the way back, we headed back to our AirBnB to chill out as the rain began. Tomorrow, we’re going to try for the Glass Museum at the Oglebay Resort.
