On Wednesday, we checked out of our AirBnB in New Holland, PA and headed out on a two day trek to our next AirBnB in Nicholasville, KY. Sure, it might have been possible to do it in one day, but neither of us like to travel at night and if you don’t have to, why do it? Plus, we’ve noticed that rain has featured more often than not during our travel days and drivers tend to either get more reckless in the rain or uber cautious. Combining both can lead to problems on the road. So, we made our plans to include a night in Wytheville, VA.
We got to our hotel around 5:30, got checked in and then pretty much sacked out. Rain plus traffic jam plus a touch of chronic insomnia the night before made PJ time about 6 p.m. Bed time was early too. Another day of driving ahead.
We were up and on the road before 10 a.m. yesterday, ready to tackle another day of highways. Yet again, there were a few hard rain storms, but the worst didn’t hit until we got to the outskirts of Lexington. There was minor street flooding, white out conditions and crazy/cautious drivers all over the road. But, thank what ever power you thank, we got here safe and sound. We hustled in what was absolutely necessary, since it was still coming down but not as bad as before, and settled in for the week.
So, that’s where we are today. Getting settled and planning out our week. Since Kentucky is home to thoroughbreds, bourbon and Bluegrass, there’s a lot to consider. Here’s to adventure.
