A couple miles outside of the small town of Ojo Caliente in Northern New Mexico, you will find Humming Bird Haven, the large tiny house that is nestled on the edge of the Carson National Forest.
The house has 2 bedrooms and one bathroom. A full kitchen and living room with recliners and a large TV fill up the rest of the space.
There are some other houses in view, but you can’t hear them. You can barely hear the cars going by on the main road. You are in the center of quiet solitude.
The front porch is the perfect place to sit and watch the sunset over Mesa Vibora, which means viper. Yes, you are in rattlesnake country, but we never saw one.
The sunsets were, for the most part, spectacular. We only missed one, because of rain, but here are 2 examples of the stunning colors.
I even slipped out and attempted to take a picture of the stars at night, but I haven’t quite got the hang of that. Probably would have helped if I had actually focused the camera.
It is a drive from some of the places we went while here, but the view made up for that. A lovely place for some peace and quiet and as a base for adventure.
